I enjoy going out just as much as the next 25 year old….but I also LOVE staying in. During the week I tend to be pretty boring, my friends call me grandma, because I don’t like to go out during the week and I’m normally fast asleep by 9:30 or 10 o’clock. I don’t feel bad about this. I’m not embarrassed or worried that anyone thinks I’m lame. I enjoy being a functioning adult who isn’t exhausted at work from staying out all night.
Sometimes, I even like to stay in on Fridays! Imagine that.. Last night Tom and I had a date night in. We were both exhausted from the work week and just wanted to relax and stay in because we know we are going to be out on Saturday night.
One of our favorite things to do together is get slurpees from 7-11. We probably go at least three days a week (is that excessive?) and it’s my favorite date. It’s cheap ($1.49 a piece!) and it’s delicious! My favorite is Dr. Pepper mixed with cherry and blue raspberry. So yummy! So to kick our night off we hit up 7-11 and got slurpees.
Normally it takes us forever to agree on a movie but tonight it was pretty easy. We decided to watch Mystery, Alaska. This is hockey movie from the late 90s about a little hockey town that gets the chance to play against an NHL team. I come from a big hockey family and Tom really tries to get to know all about hockey because he knows it’s something I love. This is one of my favorite hockey movies mostly because I can remember watching it with my dad when I was a kid. I don’t own it so we rented it on YouTube for $3. I didn’t even know you could rent movies on YouTube until last night! Of course, princess Riley decided to climb on up and hog the bed….
We laid in bed and watch the movie on my computer and it was so nice to just relax and not do anything. Tom enjoyed the movie despite the fact that we got an hour and a half into it and my little brother walked in and spoiled the ending *eye roll* and I got to spend the evening cuddled up with my boyfriend and my Riley girl so needless to say, I was a happy girl. These are some of my favorite nights just being able to enjoy his company (and not wear makeup or real clothes).
So while many of my friends may have been out at the bars having a great time without me, I’m perfectly okay with my decision to spend my Friday night in with my little family.
